Quentin Tarantino has stated that his creativity has been sparked by the production and success of True Grit to create a spaghetti western in honour of Sergio Leone and his style of western. The films of Leone set precedents and defined the standard that would need to be matched to make a successful western from then on, and now Tarantino wants to leave his mark on the genre.Expect blood-soaked tumbleweed sometime in the next few years.

–_Hello, and welcome to the Chronicle_–

For now, our eyes are peeled on the upcoming ‘True Grit’. From acclaimed helmers Ethan and Joel Coen (collectively referring to themselves as ‘the Coen brothers’ when directing films) comes True Grit, a back-to-the-source-material remake of the 1969 western classic of the same name. Jeff Bridges steps into John Wayne’s dauntingly iconic cowboy boots in what is said to be a powerful reinvention of the character Rooster Cogburn, commanding the screen with all the experience and charisma displayed in such timeless classics as ‘The Fabulous Baker Boys’ and ‘The Big Lebowski’. Hot on the heels of his turn in Tron Legacy, Bridges is proving that even at the age of 61, his star is still burning strong enough to command and anchor a film as its lead. Release date: 11 February. More on the film to come, keep your eyes on the Chronicle for more news.
